Designed and originally built for the Swiss military, this Pinzgauer 712W has a very storied past, and is ready for its next adventure! The rare fiberglass “workshop” back end has been converted to a camper style box to be used wherever the 6×6 chassis takes you. The previous owners kept a fun blog of their experiences with the rig from 2016-2021, where they traveled from Montana, down to Baja, and back up to Idaho. The majority of upgrades in the camper area were all completed in that time period as well.
Powering this beast is an air cooled 4 cylinder engine, which has been upgraded with a custom Electronic Fuel Injection kit. Three hydraulic locking differentials and true six wheel drive, provide all the traction you could desire from this rig. Independent Portal Axles are standard all around, a solid state ignition was installed a few years ago, and there is an 800 mile range fuel tank. In the box, a bed and storage center was built by the previous owners, as detailed in their blog. Wiring and power was added to the solar system on the roof with two deep cycle marine/rv batteries. Power for a fridge was run, water system for a kitchen plumbed, and there is an outdoor kitchen set up with tons of storage space also. Most recently, the rig was rhino-lined, received a full service and check up, custom topographic wrap of Coeur d’Alene Lake, and the box and windows were resealed.
